Auf Deutsch lesen: Schmuck selber machen in Berlin: Dein eigener Silberring im Wachsguss

Wearing a ring you made yourself feels different from wearing one you bought. And you don't need jewellery training or any experience to do it. At our guest workshop with jeweller Alexandre Nicolet of Atelier NINE25, you carve your ring from wax and end up wearing it in solid sterling silver.
What is lost-wax casting?
Lost-wax casting is an ancient technique. First, the piece is made as a wax model. That model is then cast in metal, keeping every edge and texture you carved. It's a great way in for beginners, because wax is much easier to work with than silver.
How the workshop goes
- Shape your idea: after a short introduction, you turn your sketch or reference into a 3D shape.
- Carve: you work your ring out of a wax block with files, a saw and engraving tools. Alexandre shows you how to use each tool and guides you through every step.
- Cast: after the workshop, your wax model is weighed and a professional goldsmith casts it in sterling silver 925.
- Finish: Alexandre hand finishes and polishes your ring in the finish you choose: high shine, satin or matte.
You collect your ring from Tuft Tuft about 3 weeks after the workshop.
